Logum Logistics migrates legacy environment to VMware Cloud with support and DRaaS from Edge UOL
Logum Logística S.A., company that owns the multimodal ethanol transport operation in Brazil, had the challenge of updating its entire technological infrastructure in order to achieve more modern and resilient solutions focused on performance and high availability. To execute a project within this scenario, Edge UOL conducted the computing services migration to VMware Cloud, a private cloud computing environment that uses the most advanced technologies for this purpose, and implemented a complete DRaaS solution (DR as a Service from Edge) in cold DR (offline replica) and hot DR (online replica) formats.
In addition to ensuring that the client’s operation continued without any changes during the migration process, the Edge UOL team also upgraded the operating systems and databases. It was possible due to the automatic data update and movement services and the guarantee of integrity even while the servers are working.
Our challenge
Migrate from the old environment to the new one, update operating systems and implement DR (disaster recovery) without affecting the Logum Logística complex operation.
How we solved it
- The migration from the legacy environment to the Edge VMware Cloud was planned in advance to avoid any impact on the customer’s operation;
- Allocated resources such as the network layer and firewall rules were tested and validated to ensure full operation in the planning and preparation phase, remaining on the day of the movement itself only the instances migration and changes related to the previously mapped network;
- The upgrade involved updating versions, applying improvements to operating systems and databases;
- The DRaaS (disaster recovery) cold implementation was orchestrated on the Edge VMware Cloud, where an RPO (Recovery Point Objective) was defined for updating the replication and the number of restore points (Retention);
- DRaaS hot, with more sensitive systems, had replication programmed in real time, orchestrated by the application installed on the server.
Main results
- Enabling the SAP S/4 HANA project implementation by providing information, data and service metrics;
- Initial investment reduced to the resources used, obtaining high availability, a fully updated environment and flexibility for growth;
- Decreased migration time with the use of state-of-the-art tools, a robust infrastructure and efficient solutions designed to offer simple, secure and cost-effective services.
Our differentials
- Migration to a high-performance environment that offers a disaster recovery service with simplified use through unified management based on familiar tools and integrated into a modern HTML-5 interface;
- Generation of savings by offering zero investment to deploy, provide cost control in disaster recovery, and easily accommodate growth;
- Commitment of Edge UOL’s technical team, proposing new ideas focused on the client needs and goals;
- Highly specialized professionals with more than 500 certifications and accreditations in storage technologies, virtualization, operating systems, database and backup solutions to drive the environments and management transition.
