Edge UOL, which has long focused on providing IT automation services with cloud infrastructure as its flagship, is now also entering the telecommunications infrastructure sector by integrating private networks. “Since we decided to sell our data centers to focus on service provision, we’ve been offering the entire framework. We are agnostic, but already serve over 300 large and medium-sized companies as clients,” says the company’s CEO, Gil Torquato. Currently, the company employs over 300 people to deliver a broad range of IT services.

In the cloud, alongside partners such as AWS and VMware, Edge UOL recently contracted with Oracle to enhance its capabilities in providing managed infrastructure and application services for modernizing corporate business environments.
With a strong presence in four verticals – media and telecommunications, retail, transportation and logistics, and payments and finance – the company couldn’t overlook adding solutions for 5G corporate networks. “Aligning edge computing, cloud computing, and 5G achieves a unique low-latency data experience,” explains Rodrigo Rangel Lobo, COO of Edge UOL.

In the private networks segment, the consultancy engages in architecture construction by organizing technology components, deploying networks according to project specifications and focusing on client business needs, and managing the solution. This includes components developed and delivered by Edge UOL, as well as integration with other technological services. They are currently active with a major hospital in São Paulo and are also targeting the logistics market, and even agriculture.
According to Torquato, the integration of 5G with edge computing provides a much more real-time experience, which could potentially lead to a future architecture shift in the content area. “Processing is getting closer to the edge due to the sheer volume of data emerging,” he affirms.
